DAY 1-2

(1st - 2nd February)

Kilimanjaro Airport > Moshi

  • Welcome to Tanzania!

  • Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you'll be met by our friendly team and transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and settle in after your journey.

  • In the evening, we’ll hold a trek briefing where you’ll meet your fellow climbers, go over the route, ask any questions, and complete a full kit check to ensure you're fully prepared for the adventure ahead.

DAY 2-3

(2nd - 3rd February)

Machame Gate > Machame Camp: 1,640m to 2,835m - 11km (7 miles) Trekking Time: 5-7 hours

  • The drive from Moshi to Machame Gate takes around 45 minutes, passing through the picturesque village of Machame.

  • From the park gate, you will embark on our journey through the rain forest, following a winding trail that ascends along a ridge.

  • The forest gradually gives way, and after a rewarding trek, you will arrive at Machame Camp, where you will spend the night.

DAY 3-4

(3rd - 4th February)

Machame Camp > Shira Camp: 2,835m to 3,750m - 5 km (3 miles) Trekking Time: 4-6 hours

  • After breakfast, you'll leave the rain forest behind and begin our climb along a steadily ascending path.

  • The trail takes us across a valley and up a steep, rocky ridge, rewarding us with expansive views of the landscape below. As you progress, the path curves westward, leading us alongside a striking river gorge.

  • By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the Shira campsite, where you’ll settle in for the evening.

DAY 4-5

Shira Camp > Barranco Camp via Lava Tower: 3,750m to 4,630m (Lava Tower) and down to 4,000m: 10 km (6 miles) - Trekking Time: 6-8 hours

  • From the Shira Plateau, you'll continue eastward, ascending a ridge that takes us past a junction leading towards the peak of Kibo.

  • As you move on, our route veers to the southeast towards the impressive Lava Tower, known as the "Shark's Tooth," at an elevation of 4,650 metres (15,250 feet). Shortly after the tower, we reach a second junction that leads to the Arrow Glacier. From here, you'll descend into the Barranco Valley, making our way to Barranco Camp.

  • Although you'll end the day at nearly the same elevation as you started, this day is essential for acclimatisation.

Barranco Camp > Karanga Camp: 4000m to 4050m - 5km (3miles) - Trekking Time: 3-4 hours

  • Once you reach the top, you will continue our journey by descending into the Karanga Valley, a beautiful spot nestled between the peaks.

  • Your trek today concludes at the junction where our path intersects with the Mweka Trail, setting the stage for the next leg of our adventure.
